Prosser Teenager Dies In Fatal Car Accident
Date: January 21, 2009Location: Highway 221, two miles southeast of Prosser, WA
Type: Roll-over car accident
Outcome: One dead
One teenager was killed and another injured in a single-car rollover accident near Prosser on Highway 221.
Apparently Abel Torres (age 17) was driving a 2003 Honda Accord hatchback, lost control and hit a guardrail. The car crossed the other lane and rolled down an embankment. Torres' passenger, Berenice Lamas (age 16) was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene. Neither was wearing a seat belt.
Torres was taken to Prosser Memorial Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries and later released.
