As
commercial buses are very safe and affordable, it is a much way to travel this year. More than 750 million people travel by motor coach buses each year.
There is an important safety checklist to follow prior to your trip to make sure you will be on a safe journey:
• Look for a company with a satisfactory rating; the more recent the rating, the safer.
• Make sure your carrier has operating authority through FMCSA.
• Get a Company Snapshot of your carrier’s statistics.
After boarding the vehicle, there are a few more steps to remember:
• Buckle up if there is a seat belt on the carrier.
• Locate the emergency exit--it could be a window, skylight, or door--nearest your seat and read the instructions.
• If you do observe a safety violation, you can help us by submitting a complaint to the FMCSA's National Consumer Complaint Database.
• Refrain from distracting your driver while the bus in motion.
