Around 1 p.m. Sunday afternoon, one driver that lost control of their vehicle started a chain reaction collision on Highway 2 near Everett. The collision involved 5 different vehicles and injured 8 people.

According to Washington State Patrol the driver was traveling eastbound when they crossed the center line and hit two oncoming cars. The vehicle then spun and struck two more oncoming cars before stopping on the side of the road.

The driver and their three passengers, a woman and two children, plus two people from the other vehicles were taken to Valley General Hospital. Two other people were hurt but were treated at the scene.

The cause of the collision was speeding too fast for conditions, according to WSP.

No person shall drive a vehicle on a highway at a speed greater than is reasonable and prudent under the conditions and having regard to the actual and potential hazards then existing. In every event speed shall be so controlled as may be necessary to avoid colliding with any person, vehicle or other conveyance on or entering the highway in compliance with legal requirements and the duty of all persons to use due care.
