23-year-old bicyclist killed in Seattle accident

A man was killed in a bicycle accident in Seattle on Friday evening.

Around 6:18 p.m. a bicyclist was riding south on University Way when a car turned from Campus Parkway North directly into his path. The 23-year-old bicyclist was unable to stop in time and crashed into the vehicle, being immediately thrown from his bike onto the pavement.

An ambulance that was taking another patient to University of Washington Medical Center was nearby and performed CPR immediately. The man was rushed to Harborview Medical Center where he died shortly after arriving.

Seattle Police reported that the driver was not impaired at the time of the collision.
