2009 Boating Accident Statistics Available

2009 boating accident statistics that are provided by the Florida Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. While some of these statistics may be different from that of Washington because of the number of boaters is much greater in the state of Florida, the statistics are still helpful for those of us in Washington State because while our numbers may be different, it still helps us assess the areas of concern on the water.

Some of the statistical example which are provided within the report are:

70% of the Operators involved in reportable boating accidents had no formal boater education.

39% of the fatal accidents were falls overboard (20 accidents).

52% of the fatal accidents were in vessels less than 18 feet in length.
