Davis Law Group recently settled a drunk driving case for the sum of $2,150,000. The case involved a one vehicle collision. The driver had been drinking at a nearby tavern. Davis Law Group represented the passenger. The driver had a BAC (breath-alcohol content) reading of more than twice the legal limit of 0.08, and was later convicted of vehicular assault.
The Davis Law Group client was ejected from the vehicle and sustained numerous fractures and a brain injury. The client spent nearly thirty days in the hospital. Nearly two years after the accident the client complained of problems with memory, dizziness, concentration, and impulsive behavior.
The client’s medical bills totaled more than $180,000. Lost wages were claimed of more than $1,000,000. The defendants disputed the damages that were being claimed, arguing that the client was able to go back to school two years after the accident. The defendants also argued that the passenger was comparatively at fault for also drinking alcohol and consuming drugs earlier in the evening.
The case settled after more than eight months of litigation. Seattle lawyer Chris Davis was the lead attorney on the case. Attorney Greg Colburn also assisted. The names of the parties were kept confidential as requested by the defendants and the insurance companies involved.
Davis Law Group concentrates its legal practice on representing the victims of serious and catastrophic accidents and injuries. The firm is a regular supporter and contributor to MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving), and also sponsors other charitable and worthy causes in the local community.
