2 Killed When Portland City Bus Hits Pedestrians

Portland, OR. — Two women were killed and three others were injured when a city bus ran over a group of pedestrians who were crossing.

The accident occurred as the Tri-Met bus was turning left from NW Glisan Street onto NW Broadway Blvd late Saturday, say Police. When police arrived on the scene, they found several people trapped beneath the bus.

The two women who were killed were 22 and 26 years old. Their names have yet to be released.
Robert Gittings, 22, was taken to the hospital in critical condition while Ryan Hammel, 28, and Jamie Hammel, 23, were taken to the hospital with injuries that were classified as non-life threatening.

Police have also said that speed doesn't appear to be a factor but is still under investigation. . No arrests have been made.
