A 1-year-old was bit by a Rottweiler and hospitalized after the accident. The boy received wounds to his lower back, left leg and left buttock. He was reportedly playing around with his sister when the animal jumped up and bit him.
The boy’s grandmother was the owner of the dog, who contacted the Sheriff’s Department.
The dog will be the subject to a 10-day observation period before it can be put down. The dog will be housed at the Slate Animal Shelter.
The Rottweiler is about 3 years old, weight 65 pounds. The owner says the dog will be euthanized after the 10-day period of observation.
