14-month Old Toddler Injured by Car Backing Up

A tragic accident happened today when a 14-month old girl was struck and injured by a vehicle backing up.  The accident occurred in the driveway of a rural home in Kitsap County outside of Kingston.

The young girl sustained serious head and internal injuries.  She was transported to a nearby hospital in Bremerton after being resuscitated at the scene.

Injuries to young children due to vehicles backing up are becoming more and more common.  Parents need to be diligent when checking the back of their vehicle before exiting the driveway.  An extra 20 seconds it takes to check the back of your vehicle is nothing compared to the harm it could prevent to a young child.
