A tragic motorcycle accident claimed the life of a 12 year-old girl on Sunday afternoon on Highway 20 near Burlington. The girl's father was operating the motorcyle. He was from Moses Lake. His daughter was riding on the back of the bike.
The accident occurred when the mini-van in front slowed down. The motorcycle could not stop in time and hit the rear of the mini-van. The impact forced the bike into the oncoming lane where it was struck by a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction. Both the father and his daughter were thrown from the bike. The girl slid across the road where she was hit by another vehicle. The young girl died at the scene and her father was transported to Harborview Medical Center with serious injuries.
No drugs or alcohol were involved. Both the girl and her father were wearing helmets. I just can't imagine how terrible the father must feel about this tragic accident.
