In December 2007, a 24-year-old woman was injured in a rollover accident on a Greyhound bus. She was just awarded $7.2 million after a 3-week trial.
In the rollover accident, the victim injured her head, neck and back. She alleged that the bus driver was using his cell phone while driving in icy conditions. During trial, it was uncovered that the driver used his cell phone 17 times in the three hours before the fatal accident. The driver also had a record of speeding and was clearly unqualified for the position.
